One of the first steps to computer literacy is learning how to use the keyboard! In Type to Learn Jr., age-appropriate instruction and three activities help students use the computer with greater ease.

The small size of young students’ hands is kept in mind in this animated program that takes students from keyboard awareness to typing carefully selected words into short sentences.
With Type to Learn Jr. students will:
- Locate the letters of the alphabet and numbers on the keyboard with increasing reliability as they divide the keyboard into left-hand or right-hand keys
- Use the shift key to type uppercase letters.
- Type short words and sentences.
- Master simple punctuation, the space bar, and the Return/Enter key.

The Type to Learn Keyboarding Series meets the following National Education Technology Standards (NETS) improving academic achievement by integrating technology into teaching and learning necessary lifelong computer keyboarding skills. 1. Basic operations and concepts o Students demonstrate a sound understanding of the nature and operation of technology systems. o Students are proficient in the use of technology. 2. Social, ethical, and human issues o Students practice responsible use of technology systems, information, and software. 3. Technology productivity tools o Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity. o Students use productivity tools to collaborate in constructing technology-enhanced models, prepare publications, and produce other creative works. 4. Single-User Version includes one disk or CD-ROM. Customers receive a license to install the program on one computer. Lab Packs include 10 (Sunburst) CD-ROMs, the license to run the program on the same number of computers at one school site.Per Network

School Unlimited License for completely installable programs contains one disk or CD-ROM and the license to install the program on an unlimited number of computers in the school community at one school site (location, address). -
